The Mechanical Assembler (MA) supports the Assembly & Warehouse functions for SRI’s Technical and Warehouse Operations Teams working closely with Quality and Warehouse team members reporting to the (?) Department Head.

SRI’s Mechanical Assembler is primarily responsible for assembling component parts per specified engineering drawings, work instruction and schematics. The MA verifies the correct quantities of component parts, performs quality checks of completed assemblies, manages part inventory and uses hand tools and mechanical equipment to produce structurally sound products. This position may also periodically support warehouse operations related to inventory, packaging and shipping.

Duties & Responsibility

· Performs assembly of components in a work cell environment per documented procedures and methods, following technical instructions, interpreting engineering drawings and technical terms.

· Maintains compliance with the assembly cell work instructions including record keeping, documentation and data collection.

· Performs Quality Control checks of finished assembled product to assure build accuracy to avoid discrepancies and defects.

· Maintains knowledge of and compliance to company ISO9001 Quality & ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems following company operating procedures and directives.

· Supports special projects, studies, tests and experiments requested by department management as may be requested related to the assemblies and the assembly work cell environment.

· Maintains the tools used to assemble products and keeps a clean, well-maintained 5S work cell.

· Works well in a team environment and collaborates with employees from other departments.

· Supports warehouse operations whenever required during inactivity in the assembly work cell.

Qualifications

· A disciplined and well-organized individual with a mechanical aptitude who possesses hands-on experience and knowledge of assembly techniques, mechanics and tools.

· Performs and supports all tasks related to product assembly and work cell operations, such as: tool usage, data collection, record keeping, quality checks, documentation integrity and structured assembly operations per company SOP’s.

· A high school diploma with demonstrated technical background and good communication skills.

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications and industry standards.

· Physically fit to lift up to 40# max. and operate equipment with good hand-eye coordination.

· Willingness to work flexible shifts, including overtime and possibly some weekends when needed.

Preferred Advantages

· Hands-on auto-mechanic, machining, metalworking, welding or fabrication experience.

· ISO9001, IATF16949 and/or AS9100 Lean manufacturing environment experience.

· Experience working in an automotive, aerospace or mechanical assembly environment.

· Prior experience as a Mechanical Technician, Assembler or Specialist.
